Wow!!
It’s been just over 2 months since we moved from Southern California to the Central Valley in California and it, honestly, feels like a lifetime! And yet, at the same time, it feels like time has flown by. You know, it’s like, how can 2 months have already passed when we still have so much to do? And then on the other hand it’s like, wow…really?…it’s only been 2 months that we’ve been living here? It feels like forever. Weird huh?
Ahhh…the changes our life has taken. The twists and turns, ups and downs have been quite a ride so far and we haven’t even hit the road yet. Can’t wait for that day. But it’s definitely been interesting. Here’s a quick synopsis of this journey so far:
- Sold our stuff…what an emotional roller coaster that was.
- Packed up the stuff we kept and will need for our road trip.
- Moved to the Central Valley in California.
- Dropped DaiDai, our kitty, off to her temporary new home with a family member until our mission is done.
- Sadness over leaving our kitty. Bobby really misses her.
- Living, at the moment, in an 11′ x 12′ room that would cure pretty much anyone’s claustrophobia.
- Experienced some anxiety over what we’re actually doing.
- Experienced some shock and a delayed reaction to our things actually being gone.
- Asked ourselves if we’re crazy??
- Decided we’re not crazy…a little dysfunctional…but that’s about it.
- Mourned the loss of our things…even if it was our decision, there is some mourning required.
- Had a few mini-meltdowns each. Didn’t realize just how bad the adjustment period would actually be. Way, way worse than either of us expected.
- Got busy putting the rest of our plan into motion.
- Threw a bridal shower for Baby, our daughter.
- Dropped Chili and Boo off to their temporary new home with a family member until our mission is done.
- Sadness over leaving our doggies.
- Worked vigorously daily trying to get this blog up and running. Big shout out to Bradley S. for all his help with this blog. Bradley was kind enough to code Bobby’s blog design to make this blog work. He was instrumental in this process. Thanks Bradley S.!
- Attended Baby’s bachelorette party…only Bun…not Bobby…because that would be weird.
- Attended Baby’s wedding…watched Bobby walk her down the aisle as she begins a new chapter in her life…yup, Bun went into the ugly cry at one point.
- Worked even harder on getting this blog up and running. Now that Baby’s wedding was over we could focus more on our plan and mission.
- Realized and recognized just how much we each love our own work space…space we no longer have.
- Fought a little…ummm…actually it’s been a lot.
- Cried a little. Okay, at times, maybe it was more like sobbing.
- Ahhh…finally, some clarity (it’s about damn time) and remembering why we’re doing this to begin with.
- Blog is almost done…almost…sooo close.
- Blog is DONE!! Wooohooo!! Happy Dance!!
- Excitement about being able to share our story with anyone and everyone that will lend us their valuable time. Yaaayyy!!
Yup, our whole life has changed in a matter of two months. We realize anyone’s life can change in an instant and many times not by choice. So we consider ourselves fortunate to have allowed ourselves this opportunity for personal growth. And we get that personal growth doesn’t usually come without some kind of pain or discomfort. We didn’t let fear stop us though. Instead, we’ve kept our sights on the road ahead. The road that will lead us across America to serve whoever we can in whatever capacity we can. Today our lifestyle is the complete opposite of what we’re used to. Talk about living outside your comfort zone. Well, that zone is gone.
Gone.
Far, far away.
But it’s okay. Because even though it’s been extremely difficult…seriously, we’re talking really effing hard…to live without the everyday comforts that we’re used to, it’s what we choose. This is just preparing us for life on the road. We may kick, scream and cry. We may have those mini-meltdowns. But when our drama filled fits pass, we know we made the right decision.
There are many, many things we miss about our old life. We’re talking a shit load of things. And you will definitely hear about that. Bun is an expert at venting (Bobby considers it complaining).
But it was time for some change.
