On Friday July 1, 2011 we had the special honor of working with Community Lunch on Capitol Hill in Seattle, Washington.  Who is Community Lunch? Well, Community Lunch on Capitol Hill provides hot, nutritious and high-quality meals—on a shoestring budget—to hundreds of homeless and low-income people of Seattle. They welcome them as their friends and guests in an atmosphere of hospitality, comfort and support. By sharing lunch twice a week, & a dinner one day a week, they help create community together.

We met & learned from Don Jensen, the Director of the program, how big of an impact this program has on the community.  In a time of dwindling budgets and skyrocketing unemployment rates, the need for free and healthy meals is undeniably urgent. They are currently seeing an average of 250 to 300 people at each meal—a significant increase from previous years.
